The Wallet Story

I dropped my wallet today. Unintentionally. No credit cards inside. Only my driving licence, Senior SmartPass, library card and several coffee shop reward cards, as well as some leftover cash from the Scotland trip.

I had gone into Enniskillen to get our weekly shopping this morning and took my jacket, because it was a chilly start to the day. I had felt impressed of the LORD to pray and praise all the way into town (30 minute trip) and was lifting up intercession for our Fintona church team and the Ugandans ministering today in London.

Finishing my shop I headed back to the car, and, as I had done three times today, I took my jacket off and put it on the car seat before driving away. At one point, outside Tesco, the wallet must have fallen out.

On the drive home, as I was having round two of my prayer and praise time, I suddenly had a distinct impression that I had lost my wallet out of the jacket. Feeling around in the jacket I could not find it at all.

Rather than panic or get upset about all the bureaucracy I would be facing, and about the money I would be missing that we really needed, I chose to call out some words from the LORD that have been dear to me and spoken often in sermons we have heard lately. Session Two of the praise time continued.

  • You maintain my lot; the lines have fallen to me in pleasant places

  • The LORD shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus

  • I bound the thief (the devil) and stated how the LORD would rescue as my Shield and Buckler

  • And I even spoke out how I believed the money and the wallet would actually seek me out and be returned

Dropping all the groceries at home and checking the car thoroughly for the wallet, it was not there.

As it was time for my noon watch I sat in the car and prayed, and my reading was Psalm 46, which is full of His promises … refuge, strength in trouble, I shall not be moved, etc. I spoke it out and continued the praise and declaring of His Word as I drove back to Enniskillen to retrace my steps: The petrol station where I looked for a cooked chicken for lunch, then the visit to Tesco, and I was even planning to go to the place where I found the cooked chicken AND had an amazing divine appointment with a woman from church who needed encouragement. I thought too that it might have fallen out there.

At Tesco Customer Service they told me that the wallet had been found. Everything was intact. It had been turned in by a worker who found it lying in the car park. And ALL the cash was inside.

And yes, there was another praise trip down the road home to Seskinore! He is faithful and what a blessing to see Him at work today!
